A few practical things.
How do I record just part of my Mac screen?
Press ⌥⌘R and drag a rectangle around the area you want to record. Press Record, then use the floating Stop button or ⌥⌘R to finish. Trim the beginning or end in the preview, then copy, save or share your MP4. Turn on the microphone if you want to explain what you’re doing.
Doesn’t my Mac already record the screen?
Yes. Clip This Bit brings area selection, end trimming and a small MP4 into one short workflow. It’s for the times you want to explain something and get on with your day.
Can I record a small part of a browser window?
Yes. Drag around a button, a chart, an error message or any other area on your screen. Only that rectangle goes into the video. Larger areas are scaled down to fit 1920 × 1080 while keeping their shape; small captures aren’t enlarged.
Does it only work with WhatsApp?
No. It creates a standard MP4. WhatsApp is one place to use it; you can also save the file, drag it into an app that accepts videos, or use the native macOS Share menu. Clip This Bit isn’t affiliated with WhatsApp.
What permissions does it need?
Screen Recording permission to capture the area you select. Microphone permission only if you turn narration on. System audio is off.
Will it work on my Mac?
This release supports Apple silicon Macs (M1 or later) running macOS 15 or later. It does not support Intel Macs. Check Apple menu → About This Mac before buying. The download is not notarised by Apple; you may need to approve its first launch in Privacy & Security. Read the installation steps.
How do I get my download?
Purchases open shortly.
Pay once through Stripe. After checkout, return to your download page and save the ZIP. Bookmark that confirmation page so you can download again. If your payment is still processing, the download opens once Stripe confirms payment.
